OpenGL Developer

DUNGEONFOG is developing editor tools for drawing and visualizing RPG tabletop maps. 

We're looking for software engineers with experience developing interactive, real-time graphical applications. We're especially interested in those with software development experience related to games, CAD, scientific visualization, animation, GIS data models, entertainment, and other graphics/visualization tools & frameworks working with technologies like OpenGL on desktop or mobile platforms.

This role requires working directly with our graphics artists, proactively developing visualization frameworks and solutions, and dynamically brainstorming and building proofs-of-concept and experimental tools. As such, both deep technical knowledge and strong communication skills are critical.

DUNGEONFOG is based in Vienna, Austria. Telework is possible and international applications are welcome (see below).

Key Qualifications

  • 2D/3D graphics development
  • Experience with OpenGL
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and/or German
  • A deep sense of collaboration using online tools
  • Managing code versioning using git

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years with OpenGL and experience with C++ or Rust

Server Backend Developer

Server Backend Developer 

We are looking for a Server Backend Web Developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end using a REST API.

You will also be responsible for sketching APIs to be used by your co-workers for the application; therefore, a basic understanding of API design is necessary as well.

DUNGEONFOG is based in Vienna, Austria. Telework is possible and international applications are welcome (see below).

Key Qualifications

  • Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code 
  • Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications 
  • Implementation of security and data protection Skills And Qualifications 
  • Expert in Python or comparable languages, with knowledge of at least one applicable web framework 
  • Expert with databases with geospatial or GIS data models (e.g. MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries
  • Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture 
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Writing automated tests and building test environments
  • Managing code versioning using git
  • Frequent communication with a team of frontend developers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years developing Server Backend Applications
  • 2+ years with MongoDB and/or other databases with geospatial or GIS data models
  • Experience with GraphQL, JSONAPI or similar standardized REST interfaces
  • Understanding of security compliance
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application 
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Strong unit test and debugging skills 
  • Experience with tabletop roleplaying games and, or game-mastering or worldbuilding
