Welcome to MapVember 2021!

For this year's MapVember event, we have teamed up with Johnn Four from RoleplayingTips.com to create the perfect planning tool for small, storydriven dungeons using the Ultimate Guide to 5 Room Dungeons. The next weeks we will help you with prompts for every room in your dungeon - each easy to answer within your next lunch break - and together forming your own unique 5-room-dungeon.

At the end you have the perfect concept, a great layout and if you follow along in our DungeonFog Battlemap Editor - an amazing dungeon map for your players as well.

Whatever you do, let us know the result and share your map with us on Discord, Twitter or our public library with the hashtag #mapvember21.

How to use the MapVember prompts?
  1. Grab a pen and a piece of paper.
  2. Read each prompt and formulate a simple 1- or 2- sentence answer.
  3. Then launch your battlemap editor and visualize your idea.

Take our prompts as inspiration and you will have an amazing new dungeon for your players. Or use it to upgrade an old map - whatever you do, let us know the result and share your map with us on Discord, Twitter or our public library with the hashtag #mapvember21.

What’s a 5-Room-Dungeon you ask?

“5 Room Dungeons Have Story Baked In - You Just Fill In The Blanks!
5 Room Dungeons was my solution for combining the mythic story structure of legendary scholar Joseph Campbell and my quest for quick and easy adventure design.

This simple framework gives you everything you need to build a great evening of adventure for your friends.

Because of its built-in story structure, which you'll find present in everything from Star Wars to Game of Thrones, you don't have to worry about how to build drama or hook characters deeper into your plot.

The 5 Room Dungeon format has that baked in, plus clear guidance on what encounters to build and what kind they should be.”

- Johnn Four
