Bullywog Camp
Description
In the jungle there is a Bullywog camp. It's protected ostly by the Bullywogs ninja like elite forces but as well the Bullywogs are aware of the protective capabilites of a glowing blue mushroom of the jungle. They create spore clouds that cause fits of coughing and suffication, it can be relieved with by drinking water but the Bullywogs have found that eating the mushrooms with a root from the forest negates the effects and builds an immunity allowing them to pass freely. This is a smaller camp compared to their home which was lost due to monster attacks. Until they can find a means to take it back (adventurers) then this is their encampment. I plan for the party to stumble upon this encampment or be aproached by the Bullywogs if they have too hard of a time surviving the jungle onslaught. Unless the adventurers pass a very high perception check (DC 20) they won't notice that the Bullywogs have been keeping an eye on them pretty much since they ended up in this jungle. When they finally find the camp I intend for the Bullywogs not to react at all as they have already determined that the party isn't a threat but rather dumb survivalists unable to hide from predators of the jungle. I intend fully for the party to find this strange. As they enter the village they will eventually be gestured to the center where they are offered a seat. A rather large Bullywog sits in a thrown smoking a pipe. They don't have a means to communicate other then a cerimonial pipe that contains a special herbal root from the jungle. It is effectively a drug that slows the passage of time for the smoker. While drawing in from the pipe the user experiences time at a rate of 60 seconds for every actual second passing. As well colors seems to be extra vivid. When they breath out time suddenly rapidly speeds up. Despite a language barrier while smoking and observing a creature speak the sounds they make won't make sense until you breath out to which the words that sound vaguely of the smokers native tongue can be heard in broad strokes. in example when a bullywog speaks they adventurer might hear slow motions croaks but become hyper focused on the lip movement of the Bullywog when time speeds up rapidly the player might hear "Danger," "Home," "Monsters","Help." As the smoker recognizes this they can fine tune how they smoke to communicate more clearly. The after effects of smoking are similar to the effects while smoking. Time will seem to pulse. Slow then fast. They will become very enamered by the slow movement of things. The beating of a moths wings will take minutes and the player can observe things in very fine detail. The smoking also tends to give the players the feeling that they are at one with nature and the flow of events, like they are outside the flow of time simply observing as it passes. The other Bullywogs will find mutch enjoyment in watching the players under the effects of the drug. The effects last 1d4 hours.
