As part of the Lich-Queen Vlaakith's dark plot to gain power; she tried to bury all evidence that the legendary Gith may return one day. This would include creating an empty tomb in Susurrus, the Palace of Whispers, for her as well as finding a place far away to hide her Silver Greatsword - the key of bringing Gith back to consciousness. Somewhere it would hopefully be forgotten forever.

Her solution was to teleport a portion of a old githyanki stronghold to the Material Plane and set it in a place hard to find and difficult to reach. She settled on an uninhabited and dangerous swamp, hoping that eventually the entire stronghold would sink into its depths. To keep it further hidden, she trapped it with githyanki mummies under her control and powerful golems that would activate if the greatsword was removed from its resting place. The entire structure will also trick any attempt from detect magic to find it from the outside. This being near the time of the beginning of her lichdom and rise to extraordinary power, her defenses were not as strong as they could be now and these defenses could be overcome by a small group of experienced adventurers.

As the stronghold ruin lie rotting and sinking in the swamp, it eventually would become a place of worship for simple-minded lizardfolk, who would revere the greatsword as having some sort of magical ability to benefit their "society" so long as it was periodically offered sacrifices (usually animal, but captured humanoids were viewed as more favorable). With over a thousand years having passed without the Silver Greatsword of Gith being disturbed, Vlaakith has largely forgotten about it as her focus has been pulled toward achieving godhood and acquiring a divine spark.
