Jones & Ward Tavern
Description
A little out of the way, at the far west end of the docks, the Jones and Ward is a surprisingly well kept, well lighted and well maintained bar. The main room attracts a balanced mix of locals, traders and merchant captains. The prices are just high enough to keep the rif-raff out. There's rarely any trouble as several competent and ruthlessly efficient bouncers keep a practiced on on the place at all times.

The tavern rents out double rooms on a nightly or weekly basis. There are several medium sized rooms and one large room that can fit small groups of people. Often times sleep is difficult early in the evening, as the 2nd floor balcony is wide enough to attract overflow patrons from the main floor. A two-level special events room can also be rented and is often used by small groups meeting regularly so check for availability.

The back room of the Tavern is as close as it can get to a members only section. Even the regulars are barely tolerated when they find themselves with no other place to go. A separate exterior door to this part of the bar is kept well oiled and all manner of people slip in and out on a regular basis, lending to rumours that there's more going on in the back room than meets the eye.

The food is particularly tasty and well prepared. The kitchen's staff are well renown for providing simple yet hearty and tasty meals, well above the usual quality of the average tavern. A constant stream of produce, meat and vegetables arrives to the service door and is either stored away in the cellar, the pantry or sent to the cooks. What few beggars there are in Silverymoon usually swing by at least once a day for a free bowl of stew and some warmth undisturbed by the back door.

Several years back, the tavern was the scene of an epic fight between a party of adventurers and a Mind Flayer and its henchmen. The battle was a no holds barred, knock em dead affair, and the regular patrons quickly escaped the premises. The tide turned when the dwarven fighter of the adventurers closed to grappled with the Mind Flayer at the top of the balcony staircase and then physically threw it 50' through the wall of the event room. That stunned the Mind Flayer and the adventurers were able to swing the tide of battle in their favour. By the time the Silverymoon city guard and wizards arrived, the battle was over, the Mind Flayer dead and the adventurers were drinking toasts to their victory with the regulars from the back room. The Mind Flayer shaped hole in the event room wall was framed and now hangs in front of the repaired wall as a souvenir of the epic battle that was won that night.
