A rural homstead whose male head, a husk of his past self (when he made a career as a famed beast hunter?), committed suicide in the basement one night. Due to the circumstances of his death his presence remained, in the form of an undead Shadow. That shadow shortly thereafter killed the other two members of the household (due to some sense of bitterness towards them?), where their shriveled, strength-sapped bodies remain (as well as shadowspawn?).

In the region this haunting became known, and an overly-ambitious adventurer tried to destroy the shadows. He knew what to do—recover the corpse of the original shadow, and grant him a proper burial—but he simply did not have the experience or skill necessary to do so while fending off what haunts this abandoned homestead. His corpse was quickly picked clean by the vermin which have also come to occupy the home.
